Bill Glazer used to say being\nan entrepreneur was the \u201cloneliest job in the world.\u201d  Many days, I agree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was reminded of Bill\u2019s\nquote as I walked on the beach, while I was in Florida. I observed animals both\nin groups and in solitude. Today, I want to address the ones that were alone\nand then next week, I\u2019ll take a closer look at those that were in groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the things that was\ninteresting was that it wasn\u2019t just one kind of bird or animal that was alone,\nbut a variety of them. I don\u2019t remember ever seeing more than one great blue\nheron around at a time, but most of the others I have.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It didn\u2019t matter if it was an egret, a penguin, a dolphin or a seagull; I noticed them in both scenarios. And, it wasn\u2019t just for a minute or two; it was for long periods of time\u2026I watched them all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The animals that were by\nthemselves all seemed to be going about their business in a meticulous, yet\npeaceful way. They were focused, AND appeared relaxed at the same time. And,\nthey were intently aware of what was going on around them.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the things I found interesting was that dolphins typically travel in pods, or at least pairs. On two occasions, I saw just one dolphin swimming just off the shoreline.\u00a0 It didn\u2019t take long for me to notice another one swimming close by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s the point of this observation and discussion, and what does it have to do with you or your business?

The animals in solitude just reminded me that we all need this time too. Sometimes we need it in our business to get things done. And, sometimes we need it in our lives, just to have some peace, to think, to process, to be.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me, I need quiet and\ndedicated time to get things done. Solitude is the way I am most productive.\nThen, like the animals on the beach, once I have accomplished what I need to, I\nam more than happy to rejoin the land of the living and interact with people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
