You probably know when you fly the plane uses navigational devices to get you from where you are to where you want to be. AND, that your plan is slightly \u201coff-course\u201d over half the time you\u2019re in the air, but you still get to where you\u2019re going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m no aviation expert, but I think you get where you\u2019re\ngoing due to Course Corrections<\/strong> made by the pilot and the equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To stay in business for any length of time, you have to\ndo the same thing\u2026Course Correct.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve been in business more than a couple of years, you\nmay find that you aren\u2019t even doing what you started out doing anymore. At the\nvery least you have probably added new products and\/or services to what you\u2019re\nnow offering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WHY?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because you made either a large or a small course\ncorrection.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These course corrections, whether big or small\u2026and they are\nusually relatively small, are a necessary part of business (and life).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many of us resist change<\/strong>. That\u2019s usually fear\ntalking. Fear of the unknown and things we aren\u2019t familiar with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Small changes over time are what typically happen to make\na successful business<\/strong>. It\u2019s not usually about a big change, all of a sudden\n\u2013 that happens sometimes too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A true course correction is a slight right turn <\/strong>here, a slight left here. You might even think of it like when you\u2019re driving or riding a bike. You\u2019re constantly making small shifts in the wheel or handlebars to keep yourself on course (and in the case of the bike, upright). They\u2019re so small you don\u2019t even notice you\u2019re doing it after a while, but you still are.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business is a little different, but the changes don\u2019t have\nto be large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the Super Bowl was just a few days ago it makes a\ngreat sports analogy (and you know how I love to use those). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kansas City was behind by 10 when they went into the locker\nroom at halftime and San Francisco has scored 17 unanswered points on them.\nWhile the game was far from over, KC needed to make some adjustments\u2026Course\nCorrections<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And, they did just that. And, they won the game too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the reasons I love sports so much is because you can\nwatch these things happen \u2013 or not happen \u2013 and it becomes a sort of chess\nmatch to see who\u2019s going to make the right corrections at the right times and\nif the opposition can course correct again to force another change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s partly situational awareness and part thinking ahead. As an athlete, you always have to know what happens if you get the ball, where you have to be if you don\u2019t, what your responsibilities are and sometimes you even have to adapt mid-play. Always moving, always thinking\u2026because things are always changing \u2013 just like in your business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you can look at sports, life and business with this kind\nof eye it will change what you see and how you maneuver and do things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thinking like this will also make you more strategic.<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thinking like this allows you to become a better problem\nsolver. AND, good problem solvers go far in life\u2026because we never see any\nchallenge as too big for us. As a good problem solver, you can figure out a way\nto do almost anything \u2013 because you can quickly<\/strong> course correct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
