I heard this question over the weekend, and it took my breath away a little bit.<\/p>\n

It reminded me of a conversation I recently had with a plumber who was at my house fixing a water geyser in the yard.<\/p>\n

He had his 8, 11 and 12-year-old sons with him and they were doing some of the work. As the plumber and I were chatting, I asked him if the boys enjoyed working with him.<\/p>\n

I immediately knew by the look on his face this was the first time he had even considered that question.<\/p>\n

He was teaching them what he knew. His trade (which is fine). He hadn\u2019t considered their dreams or what they were interested in.<\/p>\n

Many of us have done the same kind of thing in our lives and our businesses.<\/strong><\/p>\n

From where we live to what we do. Even how we run our businesses or the services we offer.<\/p>\n

\"\"I know I started out modeling my business based on how a mentor ran his business. For a while I even modeled his personality. That was a huge mistake on my part.<\/p>\n

Think for a minute about what you do and how you do it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Can you honestly<\/strong> say you\u2019re doing things your way?<\/p>\n

Are you doing what you want? How you want?<\/p>\n

Or have you given up, even a little, on your dream?<\/strong><\/p>\n
