Yep\u2026 the tire was completely flat when I got to the car the next morning to head out to kayak.<\/p>\nAfter a couple minor slow downs on the trip, we pulled into the resort, went to the room, and got changed for a dinner of dover sole (it\u2019s fish\u2026 and if you\u2019ve never had it, you\u2019re truly missing out!) and some live jazz music.<\/p>\n
Ok, there might have been a couple appletini\u2019s in there too\u2026 but I didn\u2019t have cr\u00e8me brulee (my favorite) for dessert \u2013 not that night!<\/p>\n
As I pulled back into the resort parking lot, at the end of the evening, the tire light in the car came on.<\/p>\n
I promptly replied, \u201cyou\u2019ve got to be shitting me\u201d. I had just replaced a tire the week before the trip, after somehow picking up a nail in the sidewall.<\/p>\n
I planned to go put some air in it in the morning and get it checked after the kayak tour I had planned.<\/p>\n
You know what they say about plans\u2026<\/p>\n
Yep\u2026 the tire was completely flat when I got to the car the next morning to head out to kayak.<\/p>\n
So, called AAA. They came and put air in the tire, and I drove to the closest Toyota dealer.<\/p>\n
Another nail\u2026 another new tire.<\/p>\n
I was frustrated at first. Disappointed that my plans had to be cancelled.<\/p>\n
I wasn\u2019t mad like I might have been a few years ago.<\/p>\n
As I sat in the dealership waiting for them to replace the tire \u2013 and in the days since, I\u2019ve thought a lot about how things could have gone a lot differently.<\/p>\n
Now, I\u2019m thankful<\/strong> it happened in the parking lot at the resort where we were safe and could wait for AAA in a comfortable air-conditioned room.<\/p>\n So grateful we didn\u2019t have a flat on the interstate on the way there.<\/p>\n Grateful I have the resources to pay for the tire and not have it affect the rest of the vacation.<\/p>\n Fortunate that the owner of the kayak place gave me a full refund.<\/strong> She offered to reschedule but nothing fit into the schedule.<\/p>\n Her first concern was that I was safe. She even offered to come help with the flat tire. And she checked in later that evening as well \u2013 again, just to make sure I got a new tire and that everything was ok.<\/p>\n I will be kayaking with her next year for sure!<\/p>\n It costs nothing to be kind<\/strong> and I was shown a lot of kindness on this day. The AAA guy was very helpful. The money for the kayak tour was promptly refunded and she couldn\u2019t have been nicer. The young lady at the Toyota dealership was also very nice and kept me informed while my tire was being checked and then replaced.<\/p>\n Every single person I interacted with was nice, had a smile, was empathetic and very helpful. That\u2019s the way business is supposed to be!<\/strong><\/p>\n All-in-all the whole thing wasn\u2019t as bad as it could have been.<\/p>\n I\u2019m pretty sure I picked the tire up cutting down an alley trying to find parking for dinner the first night. Maybe there\u2019s a lesson in patience<\/strong> there for me\u2026 lol!<\/p>\n The rest of the trip went well.<\/p>\n In case you\u2019re wondering\u2026 I did have cr\u00e8me brulee once while on vacation.
