I don\u2019t think you will be either\u2026I highly recommend you get this book and have a pen or highlighter in your hand as you pour through it.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B002ACPM54\/ref=as_li_tf_il?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=wwwcompleteem-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=217153&amp;creative=399353&amp;creativeASIN=B002ACPM54\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"http:\/\/ws.assoc-amazon.com\/widgets\/q?_encoding=UTF8&amp;Format=_SL160_&amp;ASIN=B002ACPM54&amp;MarketPlace=US&amp;ID=AsinImage&amp;WS=1&amp;tag=wwwcompleteem-20&amp;ServiceVersion=20070822\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"112\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=wwwcompleteem-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B002ACPM54&amp;camp=217153&amp;creative=399353\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The book is really about the changing trends in business and marketing particularly as the internet and social media have emerged as bigger players in this arena.\u00a0 In the new marketing our attention spans are shorter and we, as business owners and entrepreneurs, have to find different and better ways to interrupt people\u2019s lives to get our messages to them. And, the internet is the hardest way to interrupt people today. It\u2019s also slow and very expensive (this fact alone should make you want to read this book, if you haven\u2019t already).<\/p>\n<p>Also, our stories have to be shorter and more meaningful.\u00a0 What sets you apart from everyone else out there that\u2019s doing what you do?\u00a0 What\u2019s compelling about your story?<\/p>\n<p>One of the things I thought was most telling in the book was Seth\u2019s remarks about marketing. He says:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>\u201cMarketing has always been about discovering what people want and need, and telling them a story about how they can get it (from you).\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Seth Godin talks a lot in this book about serving your market, being available to them, and responding to them quickly.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also very interesting to me, because I\u2019ve heard this theme a few times lately, that he says it\u2019s not in our nature to do what works. As a matter of fact he says we rarely do what works.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve had many instances where this has proven to be very true. I recently had a struggling business man call me in need of help. His business was failing and after just a few simple questions, he revealed to me that he had a direct mail campaign that was pulling a 12:1 Return on Investment (ROI) but he has stopped running it. And, much to my surprise, nothing I said could convince him to start the campaign again to save his business.<\/p>\n<p>The middle section of this relatively small, quickly read book, discusses the 14 trends you, as a marketer and business owner, can\u2019t ignore as you grow your business now and in the coming years.
