\u201cHow\u2019s business?\u201d
\nYou reply, \u201cit\u2019s good (or great).\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHow are you doing?\u201d
\nYou say, \u201cI\u2019m good, how about you?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAre you ok?\u201d
\nYou respond, \u201cYea, I\u2019m good.\u201d
\nOr \u201cI\u2019m fine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sound familiar?<\/p>\n

I saw a young child take a nasty fall (out of a moving car) over the weekend and this was the response of the person who picked her up and whisked her away.<\/p>\n

And it got me thinking how many times we all do this. In life and in business.<\/p>\n

Is it because we\u2019re not really listening<\/strong> to the question.
\nDo we do it because we don\u2019t think the person asking really cares or wants to know the answer?
\nAre we embarrassed<\/strong> to admit we might need some help<\/strong> in life?
\nDo you fear<\/strong> being judged?<\/p>\n

Maybe it\u2019s a little bit of all of that. Maybe it depends on when you\u2019re asked.<\/p>\n

As business owners and entrepreneurs, we think we have to be independent,<\/strong> have all the answers, know everything<\/strong> and do it all on our own.<\/strong><\/p>\n

That\u2019s actually some of the worst thinking you can have as a business owner.<\/p>\n

And, the exact opposite is true\u2026
\nYou absolutely can\u2019t do it all,<\/strong> know it all or run your business by yourself. If you try, you\u2019ll be overwhelmed and probably burnout pretty fast.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been in business for more than 30 years<\/strong> and I can\u2019t even send my weekly newsletter to my list without help. It\u2019s not my strong suit. So, I let people who are doing these kinds of things every day, who know more about it do it for me.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re thinking I can do that because I\u2019ve reached a level of success, I get it. I\u2019ve had help in my business pretty much since the beginning. Not full time, just people to help me with certain things. It was a stretch. And so worth it. I wouldn\u2019t change anything \u2013 except to have gotten more help sooner in more areas.<\/p>\n

I want to focus as much of my time and energy on the things I\u2019m uniquely qualified to do \u2013 and there are only 5 things<\/strong> in that category.<\/p>\n

Read that again\u2026 I invest 80-95% of my time in my business working ON a maximum of 5 areas<\/strong> \u2013 the only things I am excellent at and love. I leave the rest to others (this is a process and has taken time to get to).<\/p>\n

How are you really?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The next time somebody takes the time to ask you, give them a real answer<\/strong> and see what happens. You may end up helping each other in ways you never imagined.<\/p>\n
