I say all the time, most people spend more time planning their vacations than they do planning for their businesses\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

And, it\u2019s true.<\/p>\n

I get it, planning for vacation is fun for most people.<\/p>\n

Planning<\/strong> for your business seems like work.<\/p>\n

Hint:<\/strong><\/span> work is the thing that makes your business successful<\/strong> and allows you to make money.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The other thing I hear a lot is \u201cDiane, why should I spend time planning when it\u2019s just going to change anyway\u201d?<\/p>\n

Of course, on occasion, your plans will change \u2013<\/strong> just like in every other aspect of life.<\/p>\n

Have you ever had an appointment scheduled (that you planned in advance) that got cancelled or changed? Have you ever had a flight delay? Ever taken a detour when you were driving because of a road closure?<\/p>\n

I could go on and on\u2026 but I won\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Of course, things change sometimes.<\/strong> It\u2019s inevitable.<\/p>\n

Having pre-planned makes those changes, alterations, and detours easier to adapt to.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Afterall, you can always just push the planned activity back a little, or move it up, or reschedule it for later in the quarter or year. It\u2019s still easier than starting from scratch<\/strong> every week, month and quarter.<\/p>\n

One of the other myths about planning is that it takes all the spontaneity out of your business.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t true\u2026 it actually allows you to be more spontaneous.<\/strong><\/p>\n

How?<\/p>\n

Having a plan means you (and your team) know what you\u2019re supposed to be doing today, tomorrow, next week and next month.<\/p>\n

So, when something comes up and you want to shift or pivot,<\/strong> you\u2019ll get less resistance because they will have the tools to be able to quickly execute a new plan<\/strong> and the discipline<\/strong> to get right back to the original plan.<\/p>\n
