In business \u2013 and in life \u2013 unexpected<\/strong> things happen.<\/p>\n

Some are small, minor<\/strong> inconveniences.<\/p>\n

Others are major life and business interrupters.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some things you control<\/strong> and most things you don\u2019t.\"\"<\/p>\n

You do control whether you react or respond<\/strong> to things when they happen.<\/p>\n

When you react,<\/strong> it\u2019s usually with emotion.<\/strong> It\u2019s like putting the wrong chemicals together in the lab and an explosion happens<\/strong> instead of what was supposed to happen.<\/p>\n

Many times, when we react, we feel bad or regret things we did or said later.<\/p>\n

Responding<\/strong> means taking a breath and waiting until you\u2019re calmer<\/strong> and more levelheaded<\/strong> to do or say what you want. Sometimes, that only takes a few seconds, and others it might take longer \u2013 maybe even a day or so.<\/p>\n

Whether you react or respond, it\u2019s usually done from a place of trying to help.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sometimes we do this with information. In an effort to get a message out or to help those we think might be in need, we post something or start to talk about something as if it\u2019s fact before taking the time to check it out<\/strong> to see if it\u2019s real.<\/p>\n

A lot of people run their entire business the same way\u2026<\/p>\n

Reacting<\/strong> to everything that happens.<\/p>\n

Never having a plan\u2026<\/strong> just throwing mud on the wall\u2026 hoping something sticks.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a better way.<\/strong><\/p>\n
