It\u2019s harvest season<\/strong> in farm country \u2013 we call it \u201cpicking\u201d.\"\"<\/p>\n

The picture is of a field across from my sister\u2019s house in Ohio where they\u2019re picking corn. The red thing in the field (below the arrow) is a combine (not like the one the NFL rookies go to\u2026 lol) farmer\u2019s use to harvest the crops.<\/p>\n

What does this have to do with business, marketing or your business?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Everything\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

As I look at that picture and remembering the wide-open spaces and the feeling of fall in the air in Ohio, and all the scenes I don\u2019t see today, living in metro Atlanta, it struck me that farmers work when they have to,<\/strong> when the weather is right and the crops are prime for picking\u2026<\/p>\n

Not when they feel like it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So many times I hear clients and business owners say things like \u201cI don\u2019t want to do that\u201d, or \u201cI don\u2019t feel like it\u201d.<\/p>\n

There is always something to do on the farm, just like in our businesses.<\/p>\n

I often tell my clients, you\u2019re never going to feel like you\u2019re \u201cdone\u201d when you own a business because there is always something more that you can do.<\/p>\n

Farmers put in long hours. Most of the time, it\u2019s sunup until sundown \u2013 or very close. Most business owners and entrepreneurs start their business lives this way. Hopefully, over time using leverage, the long hours and the stress lessens \u2013 at least a little.<\/p>\n

Years ago, I had a coach tell me it was time for me to lose the farm mentality. Now, I realize a lot of who I have become in my life and the reason I\u2019ve had the success I\u2019ve had is my work ethic and the values I learned growing up on the farm.<\/p>\n

Do what it takes to get the job done. Rest when there\u2019s less to do and you\u2019re not \u201cin season\u201d.<\/p>\n
