Are you a good problem solver?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been told I am\u2026<\/p>\n

I saw a video the other day, related to sports (surprised? Probably not), but it made sense in life too.<\/p>\n

\"\"It was talking about the fact that people\u2019s problem-solving skills have decreased over time and are less than they used to be.<\/p>\n

And part of the reason is we do things in blocks instead of random.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For example, if you\u2019re working on your jump shot in basketball, you probably go shoot 20-30 (or more) shots in a row. One right after the other.<\/p>\n

But\u2026<\/p>\n

That doesn\u2019t translate to the game because that\u2019s not ever what happens in a game (real-life) situation. In a game, you\u2019re running down the court, might receive or throw a pass, make a cut, and so on.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s random. The game is random and so is life.<\/p>\n

So, we should practice that way.<\/p>\n

You may have heard the saying \u201cyou play like you practice.\u201d But we don\u2019t practice like we play.<\/p>\n

Interesting!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Speaking in front of people (whether live or virtual) is random. You never know what might happen.<\/p>\n

Do you practice handling different situations before you go onstage?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s probably harder to practice somethings as they relate to business than it is as they relate to sports, but the principle is still the same.<\/p>\n

Looking to improve your problem-solving skills,<\/strong> practice some random things.<\/p>\n

There are a lot of games and apps you can get to work on your problem solving skills. As you get better at them, the skills will cross-over<\/strong> into other areas of your life.<\/p>\n

I play a game called \u201cWords With Friends\u201d and it\u2019s made me a better writer<\/strong> as my vocabulary has increased.<\/p>\n

There are strategy<\/strong> games and more available as well.<\/p>\n

I just love the random vs block training idea.<\/p>\n
