The part that gets me is that not one person looked at her and said, \u201cJoan, something\u2019s wrong. You\u2019re doing everything that\u2019s supposed to work, and it isn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Why would they?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were doing the exact same thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Same model. Same offers. Same pricing. Same way of selling. Same way of delivering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When everyone is standing in the same room, nobody notices the walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s the trap.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n And it isn\u2019t just Joan\u2019s industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s every industry\u2026and almost certainly yours.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We call it \u201cbest practices\u201d, but it\u2019s not!<\/strong> Most of the time, it\u2019s just common practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We call it \u201cindustry standard.\u201d Most of the time, it\u2019s an inherited habit.<\/strong> Passed down from someone who copied it from someone else who never stopped to see if it actually worked or not.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Popular isn\u2019t proof.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A thousand people doing the same thing doesn\u2019t make it right. It just makes it crowded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And crowded is expensive.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n When you look like everyone else, the only thing left to compare is price. When you sound like everyone else, nobody remembers you. When you offer what everyone else offers, your customer has no reason to pick you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So, they don\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Or worse yet\u2026they pick whoever is cheapest.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n You think you have a marketing problem.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n You might have a sameness problem.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Working harder at the same model won\u2019t fix it. <\/strong>You\u2019ll just get better at being average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Joan didn\u2019t need to get better at the model that wasn\u2019t producing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She needed a new model.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This isn\u2019t about rebelling. Being different just to be different is its own kind of copying.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s about asking the one question you and your industry stopped asking a long time ago:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Does this actually work?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Not \u201cIs it normal?\u201d Not \u201cDo my competitors do it?\u201d Not \u201cDid someone famous teach it?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Does it work for you? For your business? For the results you actually want?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n So, here\u2019s what I want you to do this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Pick one thing <\/strong>in your business. Just one.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n And ask yourself, honestly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Am I doing this because it works?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Or because everybody does it this way?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Those are not the same thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What\u2019s your one thing for this week?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
