{"id":904,"date":"2011-08-15T12:32:54","date_gmt":"2011-08-15T16:32:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.completemarketingsystems.com\/cms\/?p=904"},"modified":"2011-08-15T12:32:54","modified_gmt":"2011-08-15T16:32:54","slug":"strategic-planning-essentials-for-your-business-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.completemarketingsystems.com\/cms\/strategic-planning-essentials-for-your-business-success","title":{"rendered":"Strategic Planning Essentials For Your Business Success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.completemarketingsystems.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Profit-Puzzle.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-906\" title=\"Profit Puzzle\" src=\"https:\/\/www.completemarketingsystems.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Profit-Puzzle.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"208\" height=\"165\" \/><\/a>Strategic planning is essential to the success of any business.\u00a0 You have to look at strategic planning from a global perspective.\u00a0 That means the big picture \u2013 not minute details, but, its direction and scope.\u00a0 You start by thinking about your ultimate monetary goals for the year, product development goals, and workshop\/teleseminar goals and more importantly, how you&#8217;re going to reach those goals.<\/p>\n<p>Then, use backward planning to develop your plan.\u00a0 That means you work with the end result in mind.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a road map to get you where you need to go and where you want to go.<\/p>\n<p>Strategic planning is critical to keeping a focus in your business.\u00a0 Again, if you don&#8217;t have a plan, and you don&#8217;t know where you want to go, most likely you&#8217;re not going to get there.<\/p>\n<p>Strategic plans can be long-term plans or shorter term plans, but typically, strategic planning is a longer-term plan.\u00a0 Ideally, you would have your current year plus a minimum of 6 months past that, or 18 months.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.completemarketingsystems.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Strategic-Planning-Picture.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If that thought makes you cringe \u2013 hold on!\u00a0 Think about your marketing cycles for each of the events you schedule.\u00a0 The further out the events are, just \u201cpencil them in\u201d.\u00a0 A strategic plan is not in set concrete. If you need to change or shift gears \u2013 do it! There is a lot of flexibility within your plan.<\/p>\n<p>You will have other plans in place as well. Like your implementation plans and your specific marketing plan for each specific event.\u00a0 So your strategic plan is a global overview of where you want to go and the events that must happen to get there.\u00a0 Your marketing plan will include everything you need to implement, item by item.\u00a0 So the two plans work together, hand-in-hand, to bring you the business result you want.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.completemarketingsystems.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Strategic-Planning-Picture1.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But, hold on you say! \u00a0I already have goals &amp; objectives for my business \u2013 isn\u2019t that enough?\u00a0 That\u2019s a good start, but you need to take it one step farther.<\/p>\n<p>Just having goals and objectives for your business isn&#8217;t quite enough.\u00a0 Everybody has good intentions.\u00a0 Most entrepreneurs have goals \u2013 ideas and ideas and ideas.\u00a0 Few are implementers, and don\u2019t really know what it takes to get the job done \u2013 they just want it done.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Developing a plan forces the entrepreneur and staff to come together and put some structure to the goals.\u00a0 Action plans, written down, with accountability systems, tend to get done.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.completemarketingsystems.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Strategic-Planning-Picture2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-911\" title=\"Strategic Planning Picture\" src=\"https:\/\/www.completemarketingsystems.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Strategic-Planning-Picture2-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.completemarketingsystems.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Strategic-Planning-Picture2-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.completemarketingsystems.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Strategic-Planning-Picture2.jpg 936w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So the first step is identifying your business goals and objectives. Your strategic plan is partly how you&#8217;re going to reach those goals and objectives.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s an example\u2026\u00a0 Let&#8217;s say, your goal is to make $1 million this year.\u00a0 Your next thought should be, how am I going to make it? How many events, coaching groups, products, workshops and seminars do I have to do to get there?\u00a0 What is my marketing budget?\u00a0 How much am I willing to spend on getting a new client? How many staff will be required to accomplish my goals? The answers to these questions are key to making your strategic plan.<\/p>\n<p>So while keeping the end result in mind, you may want to say, if I want to make $1 million this year, I can make $200,000 in seminars as profit.\u00a0 How many seminars am I willing to do?\u00a0 Five would get you there.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">You<\/span> decide as the business owner and entrepreneur.\u00a0 You may also have product sales.\u00a0 Your product sales in the year may generate $300,000.\u00a0 Factor that into your plan.
