Do It Anyway… AKA Just Do It!

I went to the gym this past Saturday just to do cardio. Not because I wanted to necessarily. I’m not a fan of cardio. I’d rather lift weights – but I’d already lifted 4 days last week, so it was an off day from weights.

I didn’t really want to go. And I could have ridden my bike at home. But it’s easy to not do that. Once I’m at the gym, I’m going to do what I went there to do. (Proof is in the pictures)

Why am I telling you all this?

What’s the point?

When I got to the point as I was walking on the treadmill where I wanted to stop but my time wasn’t up yet, it hit me. Working out is a lot like business.

Sometimes you want to stop. And you can choose to quit. Or you can keep going. Push forward. Overcome the challenge and the hard parts.

I hear it from my clients all the time… they don’t want to do this or that. And that’s fine. Ultimately, it’s your decision. It’s your business so you can do what you want.

The question is what’s the end result you want.

And do you really want it, or do you just say you do?

What are you willing to do to get it? And what are you not willing to do.

It’s easy to say, “I’m willing to do whatever it takes.” It’s harder to do. And there’s nothing wrong with having limitations and boundaries around what you’re willing to do and what you aren’t.

Just be honest about it – at least to yourself.

It’s sort of like me and cardio…

I do it because it’s good for me. It’s good for my body, my heart and my endurance. I don’t do cardio to lose weight (although I’m working on losing a few pounds – that starts in the kitchen, with what I put in my mouth).

I don’t do it because I love it (I don’t have to love it. I just have to do it). I do it because I made a commitment to do it.

Unfortunately, unlike in business, I can’t hire somebody else to do it for me.

Like so many things in life and business, you just do it because you have to.

It’s like the quote from one of my favorite books…

“It’s easy to do, and it’s easy not to do.”

The common denominator is you…

What will you decide?
