Stop Buying the Answer Before You Know the Question

Most business programs start with an answer.

You need a funnel. You need a better sales process. You need to post more content. You need an AI system. You need a webinar. You need recurring revenue.

Maybe you do.

But here’s the first thing you should be asking…What’s the question?

That changes everything.

Picture five insurance agencies, all within ten miles of each other. Same carrier. Same products. Same rate sheets.

If you were building a program for insurance agents, you’d probably put all five owners through the same twelve modules. Why wouldn’t you? They’re in the same business.

Except they aren’t.

Look a little closer and you’ll find five completely different businesses:

  • One has more leads than the team can follow up with.
  • One is starving for leads.
  • One has a great sales team but can’t keep good people.
  • One has a strong book of business, and the owner is still making every decision.
  • One is growing revenue while profit quietly slips out the back door.

What’s “the” solution for those five agencies?

There isn’t one. There are five.

And that’s exactly where buying the answer first gets very expensive.

You buy a lead-generation program because revenue is down. But the real issue is that your conversion rate fell off a cliff.

You buy a sales program because you think your team needs better scripts. But the real issue is that you’re attracting the wrong prospects.

You buy another marketing program because you need more money. But your model doesn’t leave enough profit no matter how much you sell.

The program might be excellent…it’s just solving a problem you don’t have.

And that’s when good, hardworking business owners start doubting themselves.

They implement, watch the videos, fill out every worksheet and do exactly what they’re told.

When the promised result doesn’t show up, they decide they must not have worked hard enough. So, they buy the next program, and the next and so on.

It probably wasn’t about the effort.

The problem is nobody diagnosed the business before prescribing the solution.

When I work with a business owner, there’s no shelf of modules waiting for you. No predetermined week where we “do” marketing, pricing or systems.

We start with your business. And we start with questions:

Where is the money coming from?
Where is it leaking out?
What’s working? What isn’t?
Where is the owner spending their time?
What happens from the moment someone discovers you to the moment they buy, receive what you sell, buy again or send you a referral?
Where’s the bottleneck?

Then we go to work on that.

Which means two clients can start with me on the same day and spend the next ninety days doing completely different things.

And they should. They’re running different businesses.

You need diagnosis, judgment, experience and someone who can look at your business and tell you which information matters right now, and which can wait.

So, before you buy another answer, get clear on the question.

Because the right answer to the wrong question is still the wrong answer.

And once you find the right question, the right answer gets a whole lot easier to find. If you’re looking for right answers and not just an answer, reach out and let’s talk about what your needs are and specifically what you’re current challenges are.
