What Do You Prioritize?

I was at the gym this morning – I’m not usually a morning exerciser, I prefer to go in the afternoon, and before the after-work crowd.
I was between sets on the bench press when it hit me that I had prioritized my health this morning.  I’m teaching a class today at 4pm and because I don’t want to compete with that after-work crowd I went to the gym first thing.
That meant I rearranged my schedule from what is “normal” for me.
I’m pretty disciplined. And I get 4-6 workouts in most weeks.
What struck me this morning was the reason I was at the gym at an unusual hour for me – it was because I prioritize working out, my health, and moving my body.
Not because I wanted to get up and go to the gym. Afterall, it was raining… which really made me want to stay in bed.
It’s the same in business.
You’ve heard it just like I have.
The excuses…
“I don’t have time.”
“I can’t afford it.”
“I tried that once, and it didn’t work.”
“I don’t want to do that.”
The list goes on and on.
We all know we make the time and find the money for the things that are important to us.
Everything else is just an excuse.
If you can be honest with yourself when you ask yourself, “what am I willing to do to get where I (say I) want to go,” you’ll be amazed at the clarity you find. And when you do that, then you can truly prioritize your life and your business.
It’s easy to say, “I’ll do whatever it takes.”
But most won’t. And that’s ok.
Prioritizing makes choices easier. It’s based on your priorities.
And priorities change over time.
What are you prioritizing these days?
